The Avenir Announces $400 Million Community Partnership Through Proposed Mixed-Use Casino Complex on Manhattan’s Far West Side
Community partners include Win, Hudson Guild, Covenant House New York & Rethink Food.
20-year investment will provide accessible and supportive services to the local community.
NEW YORK, NY (June 30, 2025) – Silverstein Properties, Rush Street Gaming, and Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment today announced a multi-year partnership with venerable West Side organizations Win, Hudson Guild, Covenant House and Rethink Food as part of The Avenir, the planned mixed-use entertainment complex proposed for Manhattan’s Far West Side.
Should The Avenir be awarded a casino license, The Avenir will target $160 million towards supporting vital community programs between the license award and the 8th anniversary of operations at The Avenir, and $400 million for the first 20 years of operations, based on a percentage of The Avenir’s projected revenue during that time. In addition, The Avenir will bulk buy tickets from dozens of local entertainment venues including Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters, museums and other nearby attractions, and provide its customers with millions of dollars of gift certificates to use at local restaurants and retail shops.

Win, founded in 1973, is the largest provider of shelter and supportive housing for homeless families with children in the country. Last year Win provided housing for more than 12,000 women and children. The organization offers transitional housing and permanent supportive housing, coupled with programs and services that were developed to support long-term housing stability. Win’s services are guided by its mission to support families in shelters to attain permanent housing by providing essential services and resources to address systemic inequities at the core of the homelessness crisis. The Avenir partnership will support Win's holistic wraparound trauma-informed care model, the Way to Win. These high-quality services are focused on the specific needs of each individual. Childcare, education, employment training, referrals and access to health and benefits, and connections to permanent housing are at the forefront of the Way to Win. The Avenir will also work with Win to provide job training and career opportunities at the mixed-use complex for those utilizing Win’s services.

ABOUT RETHINK FOOD
Founded in 2017, Rethink Food is a New York City based nonprofit committed to creating a more sustainable and equitable food system. The group partners with local restaurants to deliver more than 40,000 nutritious meals per week across New York City and Miami at no cost to communities. Since its inception, Rethink Food has prepared more than 30 million meals for local communities and repurposed more than 2.5 million pounds of excess food. As part of this unique partnership, Silverstein Properties will provide Rethink Food with a retail space in its residential complex at Silver Towers to open its second community kitchen. From there, Rethink Food will collect and repurpose excess food from The Avenir’s food program including its hospitality brand, Hyatt’s Destination by Hyatt; the five restaurants featuring concepts by renowned hospitality groups Union Square Hospitality Group and STARR Restaurants; and the curated food hall with venues from local chefs and restaurateurs.

These community partnerships follow a wave of recent news about The Avenir including a hospitality partnership with Hyatt and the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council and a food, beverage and workforce partnership with Union Square Hospitality Group, STARR Restaurants and a host of chefs from the immediate project area. The project is expected to employ nearly 5,000 union hospitality and gaming workers.
Located across the street from the Javits Center, The Avenir project will transform a vacant site into a mixed-use complex with a 1,000-room Destination by Hyatt Hotel, first-class casino, more than 12 restaurants and bars, conference and meeting spaces, a spa and fitness center, outdoor pool, a boutique entertainment venue, and a community art gallery.
The project site is fully owned and controlled by Silverstein Properties and is shovel-ready upon approval. The site is also free of complex logistical hurdles, such as land-use approvals and the need for residential or commercial displacement.
